Content: (May 09 CAE test results in, all negative!) I am located at Batesville Arkansas. We raise Registered Nigerian Dwarf goats and Mini-Lamanchas. Our most recent CAE test results were received 05/01/2009, all negative.
I am sorry to report, that due to a re-infestation of Perilla Mint, I have sold all of my registered Nigerian breeders. There were just too expensive and beautiful for me to take a chance with. We will now resort to herbicides to eradicate the plant. I have still have some of their offspring for sale, wethers and does.
I began my relationship with goat with the Mini-Lamancha variety. I have several, 3 does and a buck. One of the does and the buck have the Lamancha ears, the other does look more like their Nigerian Dwarf ancestors. The mini-Lamancha buck will now become my primary breeder. My minis started producing milk this spring. The milk has good butterfat content, and I can not discern the difference in taste to whole cows milk. I am very pleased with them; however, I do intend to purchase an automatic milker at the first opportunity!
All of our Mini-Lamanchas are pet quality, by that I mean I do not have their pedigrees so they can not be registered. My stud and one of my does do have the Lamancha ears. Mini-Lamanchas are a cross between Lamanchas, a standard size milk goat, and Nigerian Dwarfs, a dwarf goat by nature with excellent fat content in the milk. I am sure it was hoped by crossing the 2 you would be presented with a miniature goat, easier to handle and care for that produced high quality, good tasting goat’s milk. This is exactly what I was hoping for and exactly what I have. The lamanchas are here for my own personal dairy products, however the male kids are sold and they make excellent pets (wethers). The Nigerian herd is comprised of 4 high quality Registered Breeding Does and One Registered Breeding Buck and one sweet doe that has a spotted past, but is well liked anyway.
